The title of my
\npresentation announces a legacy. I use this term deliberately. Indeed, after 45
\nyears of involvement in gifted education\u2014which, by the way, I prefer to call
\nAcademic Talent Development (ATD)\u2014I am well aware that my professional career
\nis coming to an end. I have decided not to leave to others the task of
\npinpointing the main ideas that I have fought for during that quasi
\nhalf-century, but to do it myself.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

I prepared an initial
\nlist of approximately two dozen ideas, definitely too many. But which to choose
\nfor an hour-long presentation? Keeping in mind the adage:  “you
\nshould not bite more than you can chew”, I cut it by half, giving each
\ntheme its own five minutes of glory! The first half (D2<\/b>) focuses on the
\nDMGT, the Differentiating<\/i> Model of Giftedness and Talent<\/i>,
\nthe theory of talent development that has made me internationally renowned.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

(D3<\/b>) [By the
\nway, let me point out that I strongly disagree with your use of \u201csobredota\u00e7\u00e3o\u2019
\nand sobredotado as a translation of giftedness; in English, the terme is just
\n\u201cgiftedness\u201d, not \u201csuper-giftedness\u201d; thus, the translation should just be
\n\u201cdota\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d and \u201cdotado\u201d.]<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The more practical
\nsecond half will address the modalities of academic talent development. I
\ndiscuss all these themes in more detail in a recently published book (D4<\/b>)
\nentitled \u201cDifferentiating giftedness from talent\u201d, available on the Amazon
\nwebsite. I consider this volume as the synthesis, the \u201cbible\u201d of my
\nprofessional career.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\napontar as principais ideias pelas quais lutei durante quase meio s\u00e9culo, mas
\nfaz\u00ea-lo eu mesmo.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Preparei uma lista
\ninicial de aproximadamente duas dezenas de ideias, definitivamente demais. Mas
\nqual escolher para uma apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o de uma hora? Tendo em mente o ditado:
\n“voc\u00ea n\u00e3o deve morder mais do que pode mastigar”, cortei pela metade,
\ndando a cada tema seus pr\u00f3prios cinco minutos de gl\u00f3ria! A primeira metade (D2)
\nconcentra-se no DMGT, o Modelo Diferencial de Dota\u00e7\u00e3o e Talento, a teoria do
\ndesenvolvimento de talentos que me tornou internacionalmente conhecido.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\ndeixe-me apontar que discordo<\/u> fortemente de seu uso de
\n\u201csuperdota\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d e gifted como uma tradu\u00e7\u00e3o de superdotado; em ingl\u00eas, o termo \u00e9
\napenas \u201cgiftedness\u201d, n\u00e3o \u201csuper-giftedness\u201d; assim, a tradu\u00e7\u00e3o deveria ser

A segunda metade,
\nmais pr\u00e1tica, abordar\u00e1 as modalidades de desenvolvimento de talentos
\nacad\u00eamicos. Abordo todos esses temas com mais detalhes em um livro publicado
\nrecentemente (D4) intitulado \u201cDiferenciando Dota\u00e7\u00e3o de talento\u201d, dispon\u00edvel no
\nsite da Amazon. Considero este volume a s\u00edntese, a \u201cB\u00edblia\u201d da minha trajet\u00f3ria
\nprofissional.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Biografia do Professor Fran\u00e7oys Gagn\u00e9.<\/span><\/span><\/u><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Fran\u00e7oys Gagn\u00e9 was
\nborn on October 6, 1940 in Montreal (QC), Canada. Benefiting from three
\nopportunities for academic acceleration, an early entrance to school and two
\nclass skips, he completed his B.A. degree in Psychology in fourteen years
\ninstead of seventeen (1946-60), followed by his master&#39;s degree in
\n1962.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

After obtaining his
\nPh.D. in psychology at the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al (1966), Professor Gagn\u00e9
\ndevoted the first decade of his career to setting up and directing a major
\nresearch and intervention program within the bilingual Quebec system of
\ncolleges (cegeps). The subject of that program was the evaluation of teaching
\nby students; it was called PERPE (Perceptions \u00c9tudiantes de la Relation
\nProfesseurs-\u00c9tudiants) in French, and SPOT (Student Perceptions of Teaching) in
\nEnglish.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

His entrance at the
\nUniversit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al (UQAM) in 1978 was the occasion for a major
\ncareer reorientation, namely the choice of talent development (gifted
\neducation) as his new teaching and research focus. He devoted to that field the
\nrest of his academic career in the Department of psychology, namely over two
\ndecades. His main research interests included his theoretical work on the
\ndevelopment of gifts and talents (see the DMGT tab), on the measurement of
\nattitudes (see the OGE-attitudes tab), and on the screening of students\u2019 gifts
\nand talents by their peers and teachers (see the Tracking Talents tab).<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Even after his
\nofficial retirement in 2001, he has pursued his research and publication
\nactivities, as well as numerous international speaking tours. He has gained his
\ninternational renown mostly through his theory of talent development: the
\nDifferentiating Model of Giftedness and Talent (DMGT). Professor Gagn\u00e9 has
\nreceived many prestigious professional prizes, including the Distinguished
\nScholar Award (1996) from the National Association of Gifted Children (NAGC \u2013
\nUSA), the International Award for Research (2021) from the World Council for
\nGifted and Talented Children (WCGTC), as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award
\n(2022) from the MENSA Education and Research Foundation (USA).<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Fran\u00e7oys Gagn\u00e9 nasceu
\nem 6 de outubro de 1940 em Montreal (QC), Canad\u00e1. Beneficiando-se de tr\u00eas
\noportunidades de acelera\u00e7\u00e3o acad\u00eamica, uma entrada antecipada na escola e duas
\nfaltas de classe, ele completou seu B.A. licenciatura em Psicologia em quatorze
\nanos em vez de dezessete (1946-60), seguido de seu mestrado em 1962.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Depois de obter seu
\nPh.D. em psicologia na Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al (1966), o professor Gagn\u00e9 dedicou
\na primeira d\u00e9cada de sua carreira \u00e0 cria\u00e7\u00e3o e dire\u00e7\u00e3o de um importante programa
\nde pesquisa e interven\u00e7\u00e3o dentro do sistema bil\u00edngue de escolas de Quebec
\n(cegeps). O assunto desse programa era a avalia\u00e7\u00e3o do ensino pelos alunos;

Nos \u00faltimos anos, os deslocamentos humanos em
\nescala global t\u00eam sido influenciados por diversas transforma\u00e7\u00f5es, como a
\nglobaliza\u00e7\u00e3o fragmentada, medidas protecionistas e crises sociais, pol\u00edticas e
\nfinanceiras. O conceito de mobilidade transcultural vai al\u00e9m das fronteiras dos
\nEstados-Na\u00e7\u00e3o, abrangendo diversas \u00e1reas culturais e geogr\u00e1ficas. Entretanto,
\nas pesquisas atuais t\u00eam negligenciado o papel da dota\u00e7\u00e3o nesse contexto,
\nreduzindo o talento apenas a altas qualifica\u00e7\u00f5es e resultando em poucos estudos
\nsobre a mobilidade transcultural de pessoas talentosas. Esta investiga\u00e7\u00e3o
\napresenta um estudo sobre talento acad\u00eamico e mobilidade transcultural,
\nanalisando as representa\u00e7\u00f5es mentais de brasileiros talentosos que residem em
\noutros pa\u00edses.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Biografia do professor Alberto Abad.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Possui gradua\u00e7\u00f5es em Administra\u00e7\u00e3o de Empresas
\nTur\u00edsticas (1991) e Psicologia (2007), tendo sido premiado em 1990 como um dos
\nmelhores alunos do M\u00e9xico (Di\u00e1rio de M\u00e9xico). Realizou a p\u00f3s-gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em
\nHipnoterapia Ericksoniana pela Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Nuevo Leon (UANL –
\n2006). Foi membro fundador e o primeiro tesoureiro do Colegio de Psic\u00f3logos de
\nBaja California Sur A.C. (2008). Concluiu o Mestrado em Estudos de Fronteira
\n(PPGEF-UNIFAP – 2018). Recentemente, lecionou Psicologia na Universidade de
\nTijuana (CUT) e na Universidad del Desarrollo Profesional (UNIDEP). Atualmente,
\n\u00e9 doutorando em Psicologia pela Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (UFJF) na
\n\u00e1rea de Psicologia do Desenvolvimento Humano e Psicologia da Mobilidade
\nTranscultural. Participou do Projeto de Extens\u00e3o do Departamento de Psicologia
\nda Universidade de Juiz de Fora (UFJF). Docente no projeto Talentos e

\nconteudista na modalidade Acad\u00eamico Te\u00f3rico Conceitual, bem como membro

\n(LAVINACC). Anteriormente, trabalhou no Instituto Sudcaliforniano de la Mujer
\n(ISM- M\u00e9xico) como psic\u00f3logo, oferecendo atendimento em equipe

Em uma sociedade plural, paradoxalmente, pautada no padr\u00e3o, no t\u00edpico,
\nna m\u00e9dia, aquele que se desvia desse perfil tende a sofrer buscando respostas
\npara os seus \u201cdesajustes\u201d.  E, se a pessoa \u00e9 diretamente afetada por esse
\nsistema, a fam\u00edlia n\u00e3o se torna imune aos seus reflexos, carecendo de apoio
\npara que possa apoiar. Ao contr\u00e1rio do que possa sugerir, no caso de estudantes
\ncom altas habilidades\/superdota\u00e7\u00e3o (AH\/SD), que aos olhos do senso comum parece
\nser uma \u201cd\u00e1diva\u201d recebida e que n\u00e3o h\u00e1, por isso, problemas a serem
\nenfrentados, as fam\u00edlias encaram sistemas educacionais \u201cpodadores\u201d do pleno
