\nToronto, Canada has done extensive work in the area of Creativity. He
\ncontributed a chapter, entitled: Creative ways to develop creativity in gifted
\nstudents, to my book: \u201cSocio-Emotional Development and Creativity of Gifted
\nStudents\u201d (Piske et al. 2020). <\/span>(See me

\neasiest definitions of creativity for people to use is taking the ordinary and
\ndoing something unordinary with it. This is something anyone can do if
\nmotivated to \u201cstir the creative juices.\u201d This definition encourages people to
\nthink more beyond the common and more deeply when engaged in ordinary tasks.
\nThe mind loves a challenge. <\/span>According to
\nSchmidt, another more challenging and highly valuable way to improve personal
\ncreativity involves the use of open and free-flow thinking. It is the ability
\nto first acknowledge and accept any ideas openly and then allow deeper
\nsubconscious thinking to surface and show itself without filters, fear, or
\ncensorship of any kind. In the former definition, the person is more under
\ncontrol of the thinking. In the latter, it is the opposite. There is risk-taking
\nand overcoming of innate fears of the unknown as a person willingly releases
\npower to the subconscious and becomes a spectator and recorder of free-flow
\npersonal thoughts. Proof that there is unabashed, free-flow thinking is the
\nperson becomes amazed and awed by what manifests itself spontaneously from deep
\nwithin. A great example of a person who demonstrated this kind of open thinking
\nis the artist Salvador Dali. Here is his free-flow thinking technique

\nreasons why creativity should be important to all of us:<\/span><\/p>\n
\nideas for our survival;<\/span><\/p>\n
\nexciting, interesting and tolerable;<\/span><\/p>\n
\nsituations;<\/span><\/p>\n
\nneed and desire to express ourselves;<\/span><\/p>\n
\nabilities with the rest of the world;<\/span><\/p>\n
\nexciting, motivating, and enervating.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nbegin establishing a \u201cRight Attitude\u201d regarding Creativity. There are of course
\nmany other ways to establish and nurture the \u201cright attitude,\u201d but thinking
\nabout and saying this simple sentence to oneself regularly and at specific
\nneeded times is a great start in accomplishing this.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nthe words are in the present tense on purpose for a sense of immediacy) This is
\nan excellent self-affirmation to repeat so that it becomes strongly
\ninternalized and helps establish an internal positive attitude that reduces
\ninhibitions to expressing creatively.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nacknowledge in a loving way that you have creativity to share with the world.
\nReduce inhibitions, think positively about being more creative and be willing
\nto take the leap of faith in expressing yourself. The subconscious will
\nappreciate that and feel more and more free to perform. There will be a greater
\nincentive to generate better ideas. Think about pushing the boundary to
\ngenerate one additional possible solution to a problem. Wonder about more
\ndetails and push to generate ideas that weren\u2019t at first obvious.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nwork on developing creativity with gifted students acknowledge their own
\ncreative limitations and make efforts to overcome them. A safe and secure
\nenvironment to express and communicate freely can be established at any time
\nwell before creativity training. Students need to feel secure that their ideas
\nwill be accepted and appreciated \u2013 no matter how odd, bizarre, shocking, etc.
\nTeachers can establish a more powerful free and open thinking zone with
\nstudents by being free and open themselves with their ideas.<\/span><\/p>\n
